Life in Korea continues...
Life in Korea has become pretty normal. I've settled into a routine...wake up, leave my apartment if I have something to do that morning (some popular activities include: the bank, groceries, meet the girls for lunch, or downtown to the bookstore) and if I choose not to go anywhere I end up reading, or just watching things on the internet at home. When its time to teach I make my way down the familiar street to the school. It's about a 10 minute walk.
Teaching has also become routine. I have my regular classes which are either Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday. The Wednesday class is the only one that changes every month. Today was my new Wednesday and I have some new names....
One class has a Tom & Jerry...BUT there are THREE of them....so one is Tom, one is Jerry and one is And...oh Korean kids and what they do when given the freedom to choose their own English names...
After work, I head home for a quiet and relaxed night, and then the cycle begins again...
Random - ness that makes me LOVE Korea...
What would life be without the random moments...just as I settle into my routine things happen to shake it up...the other day I walked down to the subway station and as I was waiting for the train a nice woman says "annyong haseyo" (hello)...so I politely answer back "annyong haseyo" with a little bow....she then assumed I spoke Korean and proceeded to have an entire conversation with me as I tried to tell her I had NO idea what she was saying...luckily my phone rang and then the train came....
Today, as I was going up the escalator from the same subway station I felt a hand on my ass...as I turn around to inspect...I find a little old lady smiling as she continues to touch it....I think she liked it...
I couldn't run away because there were people in front of me and I couldn't be rude cause she wouldn't understand. Once I finally made it to the top I walked as quickly as I could without seeming like I was running away and took the stairs the rest of the way up...
I think maybe I need to stay out of the subway stations...
That's all for now...Everything is good, life is good, Korea is good...
Oh, I'm also going to Mongolia for the Korean Thanksgiving holiday. More to come on that as the plans develop...but the plane ticket has been purchased and the passport is off getting the visa...woot woot!!
